The Valley of Ghosts

Eddie tiptoed behind the cracked door that had had its good days centuries ago. He opened a crack more and saw real darkness devour him. It was night time, a chilly night with a heavy breeze that whispered in Eddie's ears. He had just enter The Valley of Ghosts, the place no one came out alive. It was September 18, 1998 and the FBI were secretly looking for someone to enter the Valley. Eddie had not believed the stories until tonight when he had opened the wrecked door. When it creaked open he involuntarily shivered. Eddie was an above average school boy who excelled in school but had a problem with ADD and was left out of games because of his ADD and sometimes he was to smart. He loved horror books like Goosebumps by R.L. Stine.  He hated homework and always wanted to play games. He had thought that this was a great opportunity until he had opened the door and lights flickered on. A huge gust of wind blew through the the destroyed windows, and he had smelled oranges and he heard a chuckle. He then fell into darkness.

Chloe burst into the house and her backpack skidded across the floor and in her hand waved a flyer proudly flying like a flag. She was a blonde hyper girl with ADD and not many brains who was 14 years old and had almost no friends. She did not notice this because she was so busy with her horror comic books. She lived one days time away from The Valley of Ghosts and she dreamed of living at the mythological haunted mansion that was there. But soon was she to figure out that her future was inside the mansion. She had learned that another 14 year old had died there 2 years ago, and that you had to be 14 or under to enter the Valley. The FBI had started to publicly announce that they were looking for a person to enter the Valley because other countries had learned about the book in the mansion that would let any country hack into any electronic device.
"Mom, I have a flyer for you" shouted Chloe
"Go away, I don't want a Bingo flyer." said Margret, Chloe's mom who worked as a blue printer and had given up on her daughter years ago.
"It's from the FBI and it allows me to go to the Valley of Ghosts" Chloe responded.
"I don't care, just go. Don't you know that im working on rebuilding the Twin Towers! You know 9/11 was only 3 weeks ago." said Margret half-listening, "but get a snack" Margret said to sound like a good mom.
But Chloe was already grabbing some crackers and in a couple seconds was out the door running all the way back to Times Square, New York.
She arrived just as the FBI were calling out for volunteers. She had heard of the program when she had come to Times Square after school to get a bag of chips. When she arrived she the only one in line and she guided to a metal door and was told to wait outside of it. She waited for what seemed to be ages when the door finally banged open and she was forced into a seat where a blinding light hit her eyes and she closed her eyes. The lamp shut off and the master light turned on and figures swam in front of her. She saw many men who were quiet for a second then exploded in random conversation. Chloe only lasted a few seconds before she here ADD kicked in and she thought what a stupid group, they aren't even coordinated and they are calling themselves the FBI.She stood up to leave, when a policeman sat her back down and a random policeman yelled, "Hoorah she's ADD." Suddenly she was buried in hugs. She was so happy that she didn't notice she was moving towards the garage and she never felt the prick in her neck, and soon she was asleep. She was placed into the car and it drove off towards The Valley with the black cloak of darkness covering it up.

I woke up in the middle of the night to hear a car leaving. I, with a sleepy feeling, didn't realize what happened. I rolled around and suddenly saw the black hills and suddenly a looming building all weathered and ruined. I felt a stinging pain on my neck and pulled out a dart. I then realized what had happened. The whole thing suddenly came to me. The FBI had tranquilized me then drove me to The Valley of Ghosts. After I realized what had happened I spazzed out and stretched because I realized I was cramped up in a car for a whole day. I stood up slowly and looked up at the dilapidated mansion. I walked in without opening the door because it was already open. I walked in and I smelled oranges and also heard snickering in the background. The lights suddenly turned on and I was surprised, but unfortunately not for long because i felt deaths hand next to my face. I woke up cold and in a bed I had never seen before. I stood up and the lights turned on. I looked out the window to see many rows of empty beds and also many ghouls outside floating in the air "guarding" the town. I waved to one just to get a icy stare in response. I saw a huge gate, that looked like the gates to Hell. The boy next to me sat up with a drowsy look in his eyes. I looked at him and he looked at me, interested. I looked at him and he responded with a quick "Eddie." I nodded in understanding and he read my mind.
"Your name is Chloe, yes I know, but you will never get the book it is guarded by many creatures that we don't know how to deal with. Also we have to deal with the Lich KIng." Eddie explained
"I heard that touching the book would kill all the monsters, so if we ran to the book and didn't kill anyone of them they would all die and the Lich King is a mythological monster." I responded
"Okay, I have been here for long enough, 2 years, and my life has been useless. So I will take a risk, We will go tonight to the gates of the Great Library. Make sure you pray tonight." and with this we parted.
I woke up in the middle of the night with a hand over my mouth. Naturally I bit down and I saw Eddie's face twist in pain. He let go of mouth and put a finger over his mouth. I mouthed an apology and we sprinted to the Gates. But the ghouls had beat us there and we could here monsters getting ready for battle. We went through the gates and it closed behind us. We walked down a stone pathway that floated on lava. We both looked cautiously into  lava. We were both already sweating by the time we reached the end of the pathway. It felt like all the moisture was being sucked out of my body. When we reached the end two swords and paddle lay on the ground. We picked up the swords and a blue light illuminated the stone tablet. Eddie dropped the sword and picked up the paddle, the tablet broke off from the walkway and we took one push. A fireball flew at us and exploded in front of us. It's shards scattered but some got on my cheeks. The embers scalded my cheeks and dead charred skin dangled from my cheeks. It burned but the heat affected me more. Halfway through I stopped talking because my throat was raspy. Eddie had learned his lesson and blocked fireballs with the paddle. Sometimes a fireball would get to us, but a smell of oranges would come and block the fireball. Right before we reached the end Eddie feel down in exhaustion. But the ground shook and a huge fire lizard appeared out of the lava. Lava poured off it and it stood more than 5 times our height.Spikes and lava stuck to its back suggesting  to not jump on the lizard. It's tail was swung at us and I naturally started to move my feet because of ADD and I sliced at the tail and it melted through it like it was butter. Blue blood splattered all over us and it started to sting exceptionally. I screamed in pain but a claw was swiped at me and I naturally swung and it hit a claw. The vibration traveled up both his arm and mine. I fell to the ground clutching my arm as it shook. The lizard roared in pain and spit fire all over us. The fire singed my clothes and it burned through my skin. I felt it dig into my skin then extinguish. I heard Eddie also scream. I rolled on the tablet and the lizard prepared to strike. I closed my eyes and braced for death. My eyes were kept shut but I heard a sword rip through the flesh of the lizard. I tried getting up as much as possible but I could only lift my head. I felt the blue blood splatter all over my body and again I yelled in pain. But nothing came out, my throat was to dry. I saw Eddie limping and swinging at the other arm and it came off. I heard the beast scream but saw none of it. My eyes were closed and I fainted for the pain was to much. The last thing I heard was a loud splash and I was confident that Eddie had defeated the lizard.
I woke up to feel my whole body burning and aching. Eddie had dropped me in a puddle of ice water and I drank up. I coughed for it tasted horrid, like my own blood. I spit it out and realized it would be my only source of water. I drunk my share and refreshed myself by cooling down all my burns. I then realized that Eddie was in a worse condition than me. But I couldn't see and I was starting to get really cold. We were in the land of the giant ice trolls. I then saw the looming pillars of ice and realized that Eddie had been fighting for me. I picked up my sword and walked into the ice giants territory. I saw Eddie staring up at many gigantic figures. I gasped and ran to defend Eddie who looked just as tired as me. The giants licked their lips and charged. I dragged Eddie as he fell on his knees on defeat. I ran and sliced at the giants legs.  They bellowed and screamed at me but they constantly ran into each other as they tried to grab me.  Most of them were crippled when I ran across the valley but few were able to chase me. I ran and ran but they gained. One troll reached at me but I tripped and tumbled down a mountain. I landed on a plateau and I saw beautiful scenery. I saw the trees and sun, but suddenly a metal house that seemed so out of place. I saw and realized it  was the book's house and jumped down the plateau just as the trolls came down. Me and Eddie both tumbled down and he woke up. We looked at each other and nodded. We touched the metal door and opened it. We walked in and

  1. This feels like a much longer story than it actually is, mostly because of its fast-paced action and vivid imagery. Congratulations on winning the Blogger of the Week!
